What if it rains or snows?
Campouts and other Troop activities take place
rain or shine, however, adult leaders carefully monitor weather and other
conditions and would never hold an event that would risk any participant's
safety or health. For a campout, most often this means a Friday evening
departure is delayed to Saturday if very heavy rain is predicted. As the Troop
winter campouts are usually in cabins at Scout camps (January Patrol cooking
contest at Camp Moore
in January and February ski trip camp out at Mount Mohawk
in CT) delays leaving or coming home early would only be due to a major snow
storm. As part of Scouting is learning to “be prepared”, packing for the
weather (rain gear, warm clothes, sleeping bag packed inside a heavy duty trash
bag or a change of clothes) is a learned skill. Also, always refer to the
campout permission slip which reminds your son what to pack.
