Food, Friends, and Friendly Rivalries — Troop 5 (Body)

This camping trip was one of those trips where the fun came from more than just being away for the weekend. A lot of it came from the planning, cooking, joking around, and the small rivalries that started during the trip. Everyone had something to do, and even when things were a little chaotic, it made the whole weekend more fun.

Cooking Together

Before anyone could eat, people had to plan what needed to be made and who was going to do each job. Some people were getting supplies ready, some were cooking, and others were trying to keep everything moving. It showed how much teamwork is needed on a campout, because a meal does not just happen by itself. Someone has to plan it, someone has to cook it, and someone has to clean up after.

Cooking ended up being one of the best parts of the trip because everyone had to help in some way.

Some scouts worked at the stove, some helped prepare food, and some were learning as they went. There were moments where people were focused, and then two seconds later everyone was laughing about something. That balance made it feel like a real Troop 5 trip — it was not just about making food. It was about working together and making the best out of whatever was happening.

Connections at Camp

🌃

The night sky outside our cabin — one of those quiet moments that makes a camping trip feel like more than just a weekend away.

The trip also gave people time to talk and get closer. In the cabin, people were hanging out, joking around, and just spending time together. Some friends became closer, and some people who did not talk as much before had a chance to actually get to know each other. That is one of the best parts of camping — you are kind of forced to be around each other, in a good way.

The Rivalries

🍽️

The Scorpion Patrol's "Diner" theme — one of the standout patrol setups of the weekend.

Of course, there were also rivalries. Not serious ones, but the fun kind where people start competing over who cooked better, who had the better plan, who was more prepared, or who knew what they were doing. Those small rivalries made the trip more exciting. They gave people something to laugh about and made everyone more involved.

Best Cook

Who had the best meal? Everyone had an opinion — and nobody agreed.

📋

Best Prepared

Competing over who planned ahead the most. Turns out preparation is its own sport.

😂

Best Story

The moments that went sideways became the stories everyone kept retelling.

What Makes Troop 5

Overall, the camping trip was fun because everyone played a part. People planned, cooked, helped out, made friends, and created funny rivalries that made the weekend more memorable. It was a good example of what makes Troop 5 trips enjoyable. It is not only the place we go, but the people there and the moments that happen while we are there.
