The Adults Behind Troop 5

Troop 5 is scout-led — but none of it happens without the adults who show up. Behind every campout, every meeting, and every high-adventure trek is a team of parents, alumni, and community members who give their time to make this program possible.

Who Are Our Adult Advisors?

Our adult advisors come from all walks of life. Some are current parents whose sons are active in the troop today. Some are alumni parents — families whose scouts have moved on but who stayed because they believe in the program. And some are Troop 5 alumni themselves — young men who grew up in this troop and came back to give the next generation the same experience they had.

All adult advisors are registered with Scouting America, have passed background checks, and are trained in youth protection. Many hold Red Cross and Scouting America first aid certifications and receive ongoing training throughout the year.

Scoutmaster

The Scoutmaster is the primary adult leader of the troop, responsible for guiding the scout-led program, mentoring youth leaders, and ensuring every scout has the opportunity to grow, lead, and succeed.

Assistant Scoutmasters

Assistant Scoutmasters support the Scoutmaster in leading the program, accompany scouts on campouts and outings, and serve as mentors and role models throughout the year.

Troop Operations

These adults keep the troop running behind the scenes — managing finances, organizing summer camp, coordinating camping logistics, and connecting with the broader Troop 5 community.

Troop Committee

The Troop Committee is the organizational backbone of Troop 5. Committee members handle the administrative, financial, and logistical work that keeps the program running — from managing finances and fundraising to coordinating events and supporting the Scoutmaster.

Charter Organization Representative

The Charter Organization Representative serves as the liaison between Troop 5 and its chartered organization, ensuring the troop operates in alignment with both Scouting America standards and the values of the community it serves.
