Community Service

Service is not a requirement to get through. It is how Troop 5 scouts give back to the community that has supported them β€” and it has been part of our mission since 1920.

150+ Eagle Scout projects since 1929
770 Christmas trees unloaded in 90 minutes
5,000 meals packaged for Burundi in 2025
228 volunteer hours on one Eagle project

Service is woven into the life of Troop 5

Troop 5 scouts don't volunteer because it's required β€” they volunteer because it matters. From the Memorial Day Parade to Eagle Scout projects that transform public spaces, service is part of how this troop shows up for Maplewood and the surrounding community.

A key part of that tradition is the Eagle Scout Service Project β€” a significant, self-planned, scout-led project that benefits the community. Every Eagle Scout in Troop 5 history has left something behind: a restored park, a new facility, a transformed space that will serve the community long after the workday is over.

Scouts, parents, adult advisors, and alumni work together to make these projects happen β€” and the results speak for themselves.

How we serve every year

Troop 5 participates in a set of recurring community service events throughout the scouting year.
