On a cold Friday night, Troop 5 departed to the slopes of Mohawk Mountain, in Cornwall, Connecticut.
About 20 Scouts signed up for skiing, snowboarding and snowtubing.
When we arrived in our isolated cabin at the Strang Scout Reservation, we prepared for the next day. At the cabin were bunks with mattresses.
In the morning we went to the Mohawk Mountain ski slopes.

There were lessons for first-timers, and many Scouts, parents and adult leaders snowtubed, snowboarded and skied.
After hours of falls and racing, we returned to the cabin, where we ate a well deserved hot meal.
From there we spent the night before departing back to Maplewood the next morning.
The Winter Sports Weekend is often an annual favorite of Troop 5, and adult leaders and parents of Troop 5 scouts!
