Troop 5 is proud to share that Life Scout Kristof Dowlin — the troop’s newly elected Senior Patrol Leader — has begun work on his Eagle Scout service project.
For his project, Kristof is designing, building, and installing two outdoor bulletin boards and outdoor tables for Seth Boyden Demonstration School in Maplewood. The school is a fitting beneficiary: Troop 5 has called Seth Boyden home for more than 60 years, and this project is a chance to give back to a community that has supported the troop for generations. Kristof is working directly with the school on the location, design, and materials so the finished boards and tables serve students and staff for years to come.
Why this project matters to Seth Boyden
The bulletin boards will be installed outside the school building, right where students and families gather during morning arrival and afternoon dismissal. They’ll give the school a visible, weatherproof place to post announcements, events, and important information — improving day-to-day communication between Seth Boyden and its community of parents, students, and neighbors.
The new outdoor tables will give families and students a comfortable place to sit and gather while they wait before and after school. Together, the boards and tables will make the school’s outdoor spaces more welcoming and more useful for students, parents, staff, and visitors alike — a lasting improvement the whole Seth Boyden community will enjoy every day.
Kristof’s proposal was approved by Seth Boyden’s principal and the Troop 5 Committee, and on June 11, 2026 it received final approval from the BSA Council/District. With the green light in hand, he is now moving into the build phase.
Every Eagle project depends on community support. Kristof is raising funds to cover materials and construction costs, and you can help. Donations are made through Troop 5’s PayPal and are dedicated to Kristof’s Eagle project:
