Winter Sports Campout, February 2026
February may bring cold temperatures, but Troop 5 is charging full speed ahead. This month was all about hands-on skills, scout-led meetings, and one of our most anticipated winter outings of the year. Cold mornings, new challenges, and shared responsibility — exactly what scouting is made for.
Scout-Led Program Nights
All four February troop meetings were planned and led entirely by scouts — showcasing the leadership, creativity, and teamwork that define the Troop 5 program.

Winter Sports Campout — February 20–22
The Winter Sports Campout is one of the highlights of the scouting year — a weekend that combines outdoor adventure with winter skills, cold-weather camping, and the kind of shared experience that builds real bonds between scouts.
This year’s campout included skiing and snowboarding, patrol cooking, and plenty of time outdoors in conditions that reminded everyone just how capable they are when they push through the cold and show up for each other.

Looking Ahead: Summer Camp at Massawepie
With winter in full swing it might seem early to think about summer — but planning for Camp Massawepie is already underway. Founded in 1952, Massawepie has shaped generations of scouts through adventure, independence, and time spent deep in the Adirondacks. This summer will mark our 27th year returning to camp — a tradition that has become central to the Troop 5 experience.

Scoutmaster’s Corner
“Winter reminds us that growth doesn’t happen in comfort. Cold mornings, new skills, and shared responsibility help scouts discover just how capable they are. February is where resilience is built — one project, one decision, and one success at a time. I am incredibly proud of the leadership, creativity, and spirit our scouts continue to show.”
